3 lbs of spaghetti

SO. A few weeks back, after a happy digital class, my colleague KJ and I stumbled upon the remnants of a 'free stuff' table in a large indoor space known as the 'atrium'. from this 'free stuff' table, I took a small collection of looseleaf with carbon paper attached to the back, which I am using to take notes for my online course, "The City" aka Soci/Anthro 2280. This makes me feel like my note taking is at least twice as productive with no added effort form me, since I automatically end up with two copies of all my notes, and one copy is even on yellow paper! (scientifically proven to make you remember notes better). This might make for some interesting re-notes, since I can go over each copy at different times and possibly come to entirely different conclusions about the information, and be able to write down said conclusions on the note paper without fear of contaminating my thought process with an outcome already discovered.
PS I hate online courses. They are a bad kind of weird. This particular one at least has interesting texts.
This post makes a BAKER'S dozen! (well, not anymooohre, now that I deleted my unpublished drafts.

of salt and water

On Thanksgiving break I went surfing at Cape Ray, Newfoundland with four friends, taking two cars. It was my first time surfing, and was a very fun adventure. The weather changed every fifteen minutes to half hour, the only constant being an exceptionally strong wind. There was sun, rain, clouds, thunder, lightning and hail accompanying jamming into a car with 2 other people, a dog and our camping and surf gear; choppy, inshore whitewash; bundling up in a decades old tent at a deserted, closed-for-the-season camp ground; wriggling in and out of wetsuits; and kraft dinner surprise for supper. Core temperatures were lowered, sleep was lost, runny noses were in evidence, fingers were numbed, thanksgiving dinners were arrived late to, belongings were dirtied and lost, academic plans were derailed, and members of the group became ill. In a word, a very successful trip. I didn't end up getting up on the board, although I did manage a few short knee-surfs, and I didn't impress the girl much in any respect, which must have been an ulterior motive. I did have a good time with friends, and I'll be going on the next adventure, whatever it may be.

Trials and tribulations in the studio

I did an admirably clean job of rolling a roll of film onto a developing spool earlier this evening, which was a first. However the photo gremlins, never far from photo n00bs, were lurking in the blackest corners of that dark little room. As I fumbled in the dark, the gruesome truth revealed itself:
the film canister I had so carefully chosen was A.W.O.L! Resting 10 infinite and terrible fluorescent-lit feet from my darksome position! Thinking quickly, I upturned a convenient wastebasket to hide my film from the deadly fluorescent glare that I would inevitably have to face in my quest to rescue a film canister. Rejoicing in my genius, and confident in the fortress of darkness the wastebasket provided for that frail spool of film, I confidently set out to fetch the delinquet canister. However, my troubles were far from over. Upon returning to the film loading room, my victorious mood immediately evaporated with the realization that the door was locked as tightly as a pharaoh's tomb!
Roughly two-thirds of an hour later, a ruddy member of the local security personnel arrived with a large collection of keys, one with which he was able to successfully gain access to the film loading chamber. For all his help, the lout insisted on letting a large amount of light into the room, some of which penetrated the hiding place of my film spool. All of the pictures became slightly hazy, with the very outer individuals completely lost.
So ends the saga of the well rolled film.

Pain

I was going to post this the other day, but could not find necessary equipment for camera-computer information transport.
My left foot randomly started hurting for no apparent reason. It was difficult to walk. It was terrible. I'm glad my foot is better now.
Left foot looked ok......
